Invitation to ICCE 2010
The Local Organizing Committee of ICCE 2010 together with the Chinese
Ocean Engineering Society warmly invite you to attend the 32nd
International Conference on Coastal Engineering, hosted by Nanjing
Hydraulic Research Institute and Shanghai Jiaotong University, at the
Shanghai International Convention Center in Shanghai, China on June 30
to July 5, 2010. The conference is being organized under the auspices
of the Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC) of the Coasts,
Ocean, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI) of the American Society of
Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The Shanghai International Convention Center, having another name as
Oriental Riverside Hotel, is the first 5-star convention hotel located
in the heart of Lujiazui district, Shanghai's financial and trade
center, southwest to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, and adjacent to the
site of World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
It is accessible from all parts of the city with various modern modes
transportation. The hotel has 260 well-furnished guestrooms,
comprehensive recreational facilities and meeting venues. A number of
nearby hotels will be available to meet the different needs of
participants.
Shanghai is the largest economic center and an important port city in
China, with a land area covering 6,340 square kilometers and a
population of over 16 million people. More than 100 foreign countries
and regions have investments in some local projects, taking advantage
of the 74 deepwater berths and 20 international container piers at the
Shanghai Port. The Yangshan International Deep Water Port under
construction is expected to give a modern twist to the port city.
Shanghai is also a prominent historical city in China with rich
cultural heritages. The vintage western style buildings on the Bund and
the modern Lujiazui financial center in Pudong (to the east of the
Huangpu River) reflect on each other over the Huangpu River.
I sincerely welcome you to ICCE 2010 and look forward to meeting you in Shanghai in June/July 2010.
